Good Morning, Colts!

Happy Finals Day! Students will be taking their A Day finals today.

  • CTC/CVPA and other off-campus finals were taken earlier in the week, and those students will report to the cafeteria during their usual class time.
  • We reminded students not to bring backpacks today to help with quick arrival and transitions throughout the day.
  • Dismissal is at 11:35 and no lunch will be served.

Communication

Parents, I thank you all for your flexibility and patience, especially with me, as we finish the construction project. Right now, we are getting all of our furniture and materials moved in to be ready for January 8th.

Meetings with Mrs. Humbles

Due to an extremely heavy workload right now, I am asking for just a little more patience with me in terms of my response time to emails. If you need to contact me, please send an email to my secretary, Cinthia Avila (cavila2@aisd.net) and she will get a meeting scheduled. I must ask that you understand that we will schedule the meeting at my next available opening and that will not be immediate. I am open to scheduling meetings during the winter break and on weekends.

Grading Issues

If you have a grade issue, I will ask you to resolve it at the lowest level first. My clerical staff will continue to push parents to meet with teachers before meeting with administration. Please do not be hostile or aggressive with the staff when they adhere to this protocol.

Safety Concerns

If you have a safety issue, please contact your student's AP. Their response time is much faster and they are the appropriate contact for all discipline-related concerns.

Non-Emergencies

I will be working through my break to catch up on all of my communication. If you have sent me an email, I will get back to you next week. If you would like to send me an email, please do. I really do enjoy hearing from you. But I just may not get to it until next week.

Being responsive to my community is extremely important to me and I try very hard to give everyone my time and energy. I apologize for not being able to communicate as effectively these past few months.

I am so grateful for this community and all of those who have supported us and continue to do so. And even if you have acted in frustration with us, I understand. Believe me. I hope that we can all have a wonderful last week of the semester and enjoy some time with family and friends to recharge. And then, when everyone comes back in January, we are in for a treat with our new building.

Have a great rest of the week, Colts!

Sincerely,
Stacie Humbles, Principal

Mrs. Humbles’ Message about Park Row Traffic /arlington-high-school/campus-news/2024/12/17/mrs-humbles-message-about-park-row-traffic/ Tue, 17 Dec 2024 14:26:18 +0000 /arlington-high-school/?p=21563 traffic

Hi Colts,

The road work on Park Row is moving along faster than planned! Both entrances/exits are now operational and can be used by students/staff/parents.

Please continue to drive cautiously. Remember, your horn is to be used for alerting others, not to show your anger.

Thank you for your patience as we get closer to the end of construction!

Principal’s Message 11/9/2014 /arlington-high-school/campus-news/2024/11/11/principals-message-11-9-2014/ Mon, 11 Nov 2024 12:53:32 +0000 /arlington-high-school/?p=21478

Hi Colts!

The holiday season is here! October can be a really hard month as we are fully into the hard work of school and life without a break. But now we can see the light! It's time to get ready to end the semester.

Construction Update

We are excited to be at the end of 4 years of construction! Right now, furniture is being delivered to our new spaces. We will move in as soon as the final traffic lanes are completed over Winter Break. Students will begin classes in the new spaces on January 8th.

The Cube classes are Orchestra, Band, Theatre, Dance, Piano, and the library. As the weeks go on, we will determine the other classes that will move to the Cube.

We plan to have 2 opportunities to tour the new space. An official Open House will occur with our annual Colt Trail Drive in February and we'll have a special Alumni event in March. Stay tuned for details!

Yearbook Pictures:

9th, 10th, and 11th Graders will be taking yearbook photos on Monday, 11/11. Brush your teeth...and maybe take a shower.

t's always a bit shocking to see how fast the first semester is. I hope these dates are helpful to you as you plan ahead, but don't stress too much about each event. When you are presented with a bunch of future information, remember my motto: Table it until applicable. It helps a lot. I'll send updates on many of these events as they apply to you.

The holiday season is a time of joy and peace for many, but it can also be sad for others. As we go through these months, the campus staff will work hard to ensure it is a special and safe time for your kids. Please think of others often throughout these next months. And if you are feeling lonely or depressed, come to AHS. Join us for a winter concert or a competition. Surround yourself with the energy of these kids. They heal us every day and they will do the same for you.

Have a great rest of the semester, Colts.

Sincerely,

Stacie Humbles, Principal
